Best Neighborhoods

Location is always one of the most important aspects of every hotel search.

Choosing the perfect location helps you save time and money (even if you pay a bit more upfront) and have a stress-free trip.

These are just a few options we considered before our Nuremberg trip.

Each neighborhood on this list has a central location; as we believe, there's no point in staying somewhere on the outskirts, at least if the situation allows.

Apart from a few places, such as the Memorium Nuremberg Trials and Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds, Nuremberg's main sights are located within the city center.

So, what are some of the best neighborhoods in Nuremberg to stay in? Let's find out.

Altstadt - St. Lorenz

The neighborhood in Nuremberg's walled city is Altstadt - St. Lorenz.

This is the best place to stay in Nuremberg for visitors who prefer to stay in the center of action, close to most attractions, pubs, stores, restaurants, etc.

A big part of Altstadt is pedestrianized, so it's easily explored on foot.

Altstadt is busy during the peak season, and accommodation can be expensive. So it's advised to book early to secure a great deal.

Tafelhof

We stayed in Tafelhof, which is just south of the walled city.

Tafelhof provides great access to Nuremberg's top sights, as well as Nurnberg Hauptbahnhof (main train station).

There are several great hotels along Frauentorgraben Street and Bahnhofstraße that cater to every budget.

Marienvorstadt

Another great area to stay in Nuremberg is Marienvorstadt, which is located just east of the Altstadt and the train station.

Like Tafelhof, it has a convenient location for exploring Nuremberg's must-see places, so you can be sure to find a good hotel here.

Budget Hotels

No matter which destination you plan to visit, accommodation is always one of the biggest items on every travel budget.

As a result, budget hotels are one of our favorite types of accommodations as they offer just the essentials at an affordable price.

One of the best travel tips we follow, whether we visit Patagonia, Wadi Rum, or Germany, is to spend more on experiences and less on accommodation.

Nuremberg has several great budget hotels, which is great news for your wallet.

The Cloud One Nurnberg - With an excellent location by the main train station, The Cloud One offers clean, comfortable, and quiet rooms. Make sure to visit the 14th floor during your stay, which has a rooftop bar and great views of the city.

Premier Inn Nurnberg City Opernhaus - Premier Inn Nurnberg City Opernhaus offers everything you would expect from this hotel. It has a great location, spacious rooms, modern design, garage parking, and friendly staff.

BB Hotel Nurnberg City - BB Hotel Nurnberg City is one of Nuremberg's most popular budget hotels. It's within a short walk from the Old Town and has functional, clean rooms, underground parking, and a tasty breakfast.

Mid-range Hotels

If you're looking for better service, comfortable rooms, and modern facilities, Nuremberg has plenty of great 4-star hotels that will check all your boxes.

As we mentioned above, all the hotels listed below have excellent locations and offer great value for your money.

As the prices between 3-star and 4-star hotels were almost identical, we didn't hesitate to spend a few more euros to get that extra comfort.

Besides the usual stuff like cleanliness, location, comfort, etc., we booked hotels with on-site private parking so we didn't have to worry about our car while exploring the city.

Again, it all depends on your preferences. Here are some of our favorite mid-range hotels in the city.

Leonardo Royal Hotel Nurnberg - Situated only a short walk from the train station, this popular hotel has modern rooms, an on-site restaurant, a fitness center, and private parking. Without any doubt, Leonardo Royal Hotel is one of the best 4-star hotels in Nuremberg.

Scandic Nurnberg Central - Simple, elegant, and modern are the words that describe Scandic Nurnberg Central. This hotel, with soundproofed rooms, spa facilities, and great food, is only a short walk from the Old Town.

Park Inn by Radisson Nurnberg - After some quick research, we booked a room at Park Inn by Radisson Nurnberg. This popular hotel is situated just across the road from the Old Town and has garage parking. On top of that, it offers a contemporary design, soundproofed rooms, a leisure center with a sauna and fitness, and a great breakfast.

Boutique Hotels

If you're looking for a more personalized experience, stylish rooms, a great location, and an intimate atmosphere, consider staying in one of Nuremberg's boutique hotels.

These hotels are usually smaller and serve as a great alternative to bland chain hotels.

Hotel Elch Boutique - This popular boutique hotel is located in the Altstadt, just a short walk from the Imperial Castle. It has stylish, air-conditioned rooms, great breakfast, and friendly staff.

Karl August - With its central location, contemporary design, and air-conditioned rooms, Karl August is one of the most beautiful hotels in Nuremberg.

Luxury Hotels

If you're looking for a touch of luxury, Nuremberg isn't exactly known for its incredibly wide range of luxury hotels.

That said, you can still find a few hotels that offer impeccable service, gorgeous rooms, and superb facilities.

These are our top picks for those looking for a touch of luxury when staying in Nuremberg.

Le Meridien Grand Hotel Nurnberg - This traditional 5-star hotel located on the edge of the Old Town is one of the best choices when it comes to luxury accommodation in Nuremberg.

Park Plaza Nuremberg - With a central location, gorgeous rooms, a signature restaurant, and impeccable service, Park Plaza is always a great choice when staying in Nuremberg.

Hostels

Staying in hostels helps you keep your expenses low, plus they are perfect for socializing.

Unlike some smaller towns and cities such as Regensburg or Wurzburg, you can find several great hostels in Nuremberg.

The main bus and train station are within a short walk from Nuremberg's historical part, so we picked hostels only in this area.

Jugendherberge Nurnberg - The best part about this modern hostel is that it is housed within the Nuremberg Castle complex, offering an experience like no other place on this list. It has private rooms and dormitories, a buffet restaurant, and luggage storage.

Five Reasons Hostel and Hotel - Situated only a short walk from the bus and train station, this is one of the most popular hostels in Nuremberg's old town. It's clean, modern, affordable, and has shared kitchen facilities. Depending on your budget, you can stay in a private room or dormitory.

Airport Hotels

Situated about 7 kilometers north of the city center, Nuremberg Airport is the second busiest airport in Bavaria.

It's served by several airlines, including Lufthansa, KLM, Ryanair, Turkish Airlines, etc., and offers both domestic and international flights.

U2 subway line connects directly Nuremberg Airport with Central Station. The journey takes about 12 minutes.

You can also rent a car at Nuremberg Airport (or drop it off).

Movenpick Nuremberg Airport | Situated directly at the airport (about 50 meters from the terminals), this 4-star hotel is the best option when it comes to accommodation at Nuremberg Airport. It has soundproofed rooms, a rich breakfast buffet, spa facilities, and on-site parking.
